Love for Enemies

Jesus said:
“You have heard that it was said,
‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your Father in heaven.
He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good,
and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?
Are not even the tax collectors doing that?
And if you greet only your own people,
what are you doing more than others?
Do not even pagans do that?
Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

  1. One of the hardest things Jesus asked us to do …. thank you Jonie, another thought provoking post.

  2. It takes a lot grace to pray for your enemies…and doesn’t come naturally to any of us…but if we want to be free we are to forgive,,,if I dont forgive my enemy (or even my brother who accidentally offends me) it is I who will be hurt ,bitter, and suffering…NOT my enemy.JESUS knows WE will suffer if we dont forgive …its for MY sake I forgive as well as to obey Jesus. what a great post JONIE

  3. we are reminded that if he forgives us eternally and then we go out from there with an unforgiving heart then we are in trouble!! (parable of forgiveness)
