Matthew 6:25-34

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink;  or about your body, what you will wear.

Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
So do not worry, saying, ‘ What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own.

  2. These words are worth more today than ever, the current consumerist desires us into a world of worries and desires that do not satisfy the soul.

  3. beautiful jonie, i love this as well as all the others you post. this one, if one will only be quiet and give this passage moments of silence to embalm, it gives us serene over all peace. thanks jonie for all your beautiful posts and giving HIM the glory. your loving sister, LL

  4. It almost seems like our Lord is trying to teach his followers how to become children again. Trust. I’ve yet to meet the little baby child who worried about what they were going to wear tomorrow, what they were going to eat the next day or any of a multitude of peripherals that society thrusts upon us. Trust Daddy child, He’ll provide….

  5. Jesus is reminding us about what is really important in this life and we need not worry about food, drink, clothing or shelter because the Father always provides us with those things. Our focus should be on praising God, loving Him and trying to live by what Christ taught. Our relationship with Jesus is all important and even though we sin, He wants us to confess our wrong doings sincerely and we are forgiven through His death on the cross. Anything that might be found seperating us from the Savior should be eliminated with His help. Oh what a wonderful, forgiving, loving God we have. He loves for us to forget self, help others and try to live as did Christ. lms

  6. It’s passages like this when you can almost hear Jesus saying, “I am the Creator. And I do care about every little detail I put into the world.”

Love the photography! It’s a nice snapshot of God’s artistic touch.
